The play opens on what appears to be a typical Saturday night for Jessie and Thelma. Thelma finds the last snowball cupcake in the fridge\; Jessie asks for some black plastic bags\; and it's on their schedule that Jessie will give Thelma a manicure. With humor and pathos 'night\, Mother digs deeply into family dynamics when Jessie makes a stunning announcement.
