Celebrate Burton's historic connection with famous Texas Ranger\, Leander McNelly\, and honor former and current Texas Rangers. All day activities are free and we'll get started with a Chili and bean cook-off at noon\, please call for registration information. The Old West Rangers\, a living history organization sanctioned by the Former Texas Rangers Foundation and Association\, will be performing Live Action re-enactments at 1pm\, 3pm and 5pm. There will also be an educational display for viewing which includes museum-quality replicas as well as actual relics including firearms\, knives\, badges\, personal effects\, original photos\, original documents\, and trappings which once belonged to some of the most distinguished lawmen in history. Food available for purchase all day by the "Wild Bunch Cookers." Starting at 6pm the dance will kick off with Allison Crowson & Sam Murski performing\, followed by the Western Swing music troupe\, "Back at the Ranch" . Tickets for the dance are $20 per person. Proceeds benefit the Burton Heritage Society's ongoing efforts to preserve and maintain Burton Railroad Depot and the Mt. Zion Church and Cemetery (where Leander McNelly is buried).
